Hey Music Lovers:

Sorry I haven't been blogging for a while, I was on vacation and I couldn't get to a computer.  Anyways, I found a new website for you and a new artist.  The website is called songza.  Definitely check it out! When the page opens, you can choose what kind of music you want.  Whether it's Waking Up Happy or Relaxing at Night, you can have your pick, and it changes throughout the day.  Back to the artist. His name is Jamie Lidell; here is some info I found on wikipedia about him (it is a lot to read):

Jamie Lidell performing live at Metro, Chicago on October 27, 2006
Background information
Born18 September 1973 (age 39)
HuntingdonCambridgeshire,England
GenresSoulfunkelectronica,experimental
OccupationsMusician
LabelsWarp Records
Associated actsSuper Collider
Lidell is known for layering tracks made with his voice into a microphone and performing the percussion and melody as a sequenced, beatboxing one-man band. Then over his augmented voices, he sings soul-inspired songs. This exercise makes for energetic live performances. Lidell has become renowned for his diverse range of genre-exploration. Following the release of his 2008 album, Jim, Lidell commented,[2]
I want it to be about music, I think every musician does. But I think inevitably it ends up becoming about personality, which is what gives rise to the music, so people want to make sure that they get a bit of both. The more things do well, the more people want to know why it does well.
                                                     ~ Jim Lidell

Here is a song by him called:

Hey Music Lovers,

I found another band for you!  They are called GUARDS!  I found them on PRETTY MUCH AMAZING!  I was listening to there song COMING TRUE and I loved it! This is what it said on them on the website:

We first saw GUARDS at CMJ 2010, and since then they’ve released so many instant indie classic singles that we can scarcely believe they’re just now gearing up to release their first album, In Guards We Trust. “Coming True” is the record’s second single, and it’s fantastic, anthemic, and hyper-catchy, endlessly hooky, endlessly relistenable. You’ll be singing that soaring chorus – and whistling its accompanying string lines and guitar solos – for at least the rest of the year. The record is out February 5; you’ll have no problem putting “Coming True” on repeat in the meantime. Check the band out on tour this December, too.

Check out there song Coming True!

WIDOWSPEAK:

My dad had a coffee or lunch with a well-known music producer a few days ago.  (Budd Carr) They started talking about my blog and he recommended me to a site (below) called PRETTY MUCH AMAZING, so I had to check it out.  I went to the reviews and this is what it said about a band named Widowspeak:

Brooklyn’s Widowspeak are good at slow-burning, tenderly nostalgic psych-folk, complete with echo-y guitar that sounds like watching the sun set, warm, sweet, confessional vocals from frontwoman Molly Hamilton, and midway-through breaks into massive, simmering thunderstorm territory.  I had to listen to one of their songs.  I clicked on the play button and heard this amazing guitar strumming and then a girl started singing.  HER VOICE WAS AMAZING!  Below is the song I heard:

Widowspeak // "Ballad of the Golden Hour" (NEW SINGLE)

check it out,NOW!!!!

Until next time... Music Pumpkin, OUT!!

Hey Music Lovers,

I found a new artist for you (thats really getting old, isn't it)!  Her name is Amy Rose.  NO not this one,:the country singer!!  Sadly, I couldn't find anything about her on the internet, so all I can do is tell you how I think she is.  I found her on the cdbaby website below.  I put in country and up she came.  She has a strong voice and could really thrive in this "Country-Powered" world.  I listened to her song "I just want you to know" and I was sold.  SHE IS AMAZING!!!! As I said above, she has an EXTREMELY strong voice.  Check her out!  Go to CDbaby, scroll down to new releases, click country, and she should be the second or third artist.  The album cover is of a girl with red hair on her stomach lying down on what looks to be grass.

Until next time, MUSIC PUMPKIN, OUT!!!

  Hey music lovers,

I found another artist for you!!!   Here name is Lianne La Havas, who was born was born in London, England to a Greek father and Jamaican mother. She was raised in Tooting and Streatham, spending the majority of her time with her grandparents following her parents' separation as a child. La Havas began singing at seven and cites her parents' diverse musical tastes as having the biggest influence on her music. Her mother played Jill Scott and Mary J. Blige, and her father, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, taught her the basics of guitar and piano. Lianne wrote her first song at the age of 11, but did not learn to play the guitar until she was 18 years old. Lianne attended Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College for Girls in Croydon, where she studied art A-level, and planned to take an art foundation course; however, she left college to pursue a career in music full-time.

I heard about her on the radio and found this information on Wikipedia.  Hope you like her!!!  Below is the wikipedia page on her:

Hey music lovers,

If you saw the documentary, "Searching for Sugarman" you have heard about Sixto Rodriguez.  He was an extremely unknown singer before someone picked him up and gave him a record deal.  He wrote songs about that time period, the 70's.  People in South Africa loved him.  You could go into a record store, and the records on the wall would be Elvis, The Beatles and Sixto Rodriguez.  In other words, he was as famous as the top singers, but only in South Africa.  He was pretty much unknown to other places.  He had two records and was working on a new one when the record company let him go.  In one of his songs, he says he lost his job three weeks before Christmas, not knowing he actually would lose his job three weeks before Christmas.  It was a sad time for him.  He gave up the idea of singing and would write songs only in solitude.  He went to work in construction and forgot all about the life he used to live.  He didn't reveal anything about himself for a while.  People said he shot himself and others said he burned himself while he was still alive!  He didn't know anything about this until about 20 years later.  His daughter saw a website on the computer saying, "FIND THIS MAN" with a picture of her dad on the front of a milk carton.  She called the editor and told him, first off, that this wasn't a prank call.  She then declared to be Sixto Rodriguez's daughter.  Which then solved all of the worlds problems.  This is a great movie about hope, music, love, music, wishing to forget, and great music.  You should definitely check the movie out.  Below is the link to his official website.

hey music lovers

I have some new music for you.  They are a duo named Tegan and Sara.  We found them on the first site below.  Below this, you will find a link to their song. Tegan and Sara are a Canadian indie band formed in 1995 in Calgary. Composed of identical twin sisters Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin. Both play the guitar and keyboards, and write their songs.   Here is some information about them on wikipedia.

Active from1995
OriginCalgary  (yeah, fellow Canadians)
Record labelsSanctuary Records, Sire Records, Vapor Records
I have only heard one of their songs, CLOSER, but it is really good.   On the site, all of the comments were good.  Some said they couldn't believe how good they were. Others said that they knew that they were going to grow out of them someday but when they see "new Tegan and Sara"  they start squealing and getting excited.  They are really good (as I have probably made it clear to you). CHECK THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a another artist: Yuna.  A link to her song Live Your Life and Lullibies are below. These are the two songs I found. She reminds me a little bit of ADELE, the way her voice sounds.  She is really good. Here is some info I found on her : Yuna is an independent Malaysian singer-songwriter. She began writing her own songs when she was 14 years old, and her first performance of her own songs was at the age of 19, after she learned how to play guitar. She has performed in numerous acoustic shows and events in many parts of Malaysia since 2006.
Yuna was eventually discovered in the US by the Indie-Pop record label and management company. They flew out to Malaysia to convince her to sign with them and then proceeded to get her a deal with FADER Label, a record label based in New York, in February 2011. She released her debut US EP, Decorate, in the United States in March the same year.

Hey Music Lovers, If you want to check out some new bands, go to the app store on your ipod, ipad or iphone and check out Band of the Day. Each day, there is a different band who isn't well known.  I looked some of them up and they were really good! That's where we found Rosi Golan (see below). If you miss a few days, you can always go back!  It also gives a picture and a description below the picture of what kind of music they play. If you click the little red arrow at the bottom of the screen, you can listen to one of there songs to see what they are like.  Then when you want to go back, you press the red square at the bottom of that screen, which then brings up the words "REVIEW, BIO, BUZZ, VIDEOS and ALBUMS." Then when you want to go back to the calendar, you press the little square with gray squares and one red square in it.  Have fun Music Lovers, Music Pumpkin, out.
